Dec 11, 2006, Kamera signs mobile content deal with Geocell, Georgia
Mobile content distributor Kamera has made its first foray into Georgia, following a triple-whammy deal with Georgia’s leading mobile operator Geocell.
Starting Monday 11 December 2006, Geocell, which reaches nearly one million users, is to carry Kamera’s three top mobile channels: the dedicated entertainment service WOW! TV; the global sports channel Sportcall and the funny home video clips service Vidiots. All three streamed channels will be localised and tailored to suit the local audience in Georgia.
Commenting on the deal, Henrik Eklund, CEO of Kamera, said, “We’re delighted to be partnering with Geocell in Georgia. The mobile market in Eastern Europe has experienced rapid growth in recent years and this first foray into Georgia is an important strategic move for Kamera.”
David Mizandari, Geocell’s Marketing Director, commented, ‘We are delighted to enhance our content offering in Georgia with these three quality channels from Kamera. In 2006, Geocell experienced a 33% subscriber growth rate and we’re feeling positive about a further increase in 2007.”
Kamera’s long term pact with the world’s leading news agency Associated Press, combined with its own advanced technical expertise, enables the company to produce, package and distribute an extensive array of time- sensitive, localised online and mobile video news content.
