Kamera has signed a web-TV deal with Swedish mktmedia, enabling 37 newspaper titles in the groups Stampen, VLT and Mittmedia to publish international news videos on their web-sites. The deal is an important part of mktmedia’s newly launched Web TV initiative.
Starting today, 2 February 2007, Kamera, which works in association with leading international news agency Associated Press, will deliver six clips per day, seven days a week, covering international news and entertainment. The videos will be published in the common web TV platform built by mktmedia.
Mktmedia is a development company that Stampen operates together with VLT, Mittmedia and Morgonpress Invest. Together the newspapers tied to mktmedia represent Sweden’s second largest newspaper group with a circulation of more that 850,000 copies and an accumulated turnover of approximately 600 million EUR.
Initially 6-8 of the newspapers will use the material, including Goteborgs-posten, VLT, Sundsvalls Tidning and Ostersunds-Posten. During the year, the number of titles launching web TV channels is expected to increase, until eventually all newspapers within mktmedia will be using Kamera’s content.
‘Web TV is a priority project for us as we help our newspapers to publish on new platforms. Video is must-have in the hardening local competition. The content from Kamera will give our viewers a daily flow of interesting news,’ says Bo Svensson, CEO of mktmedia
‘Until now we’ve mainly had national newspapers as customers online. Therefore this project with local newspapers is of special interest for us. I believe we will see a massive growth in this area,’ says Henrik Eklund, CEO of Kamera.
Kamera, established in 1998 and headquartered in Stockholm, works with over 30 online video customers worldwide, and operates and distributes video content to over 25 mobile operators, in Asia, Europe, Africa and South America.
